Good Behavior Game - Addressing Potential Saboteurs


Students who purposely display inappropriate behaviors to sabotage the game for their team may emerge. These students may be demonstrating that they require more than the GBG to address their social/emotional/behavioral challenge(s). Remember, GBG is a Tier One intervention! Consider the following options:

  • Make sure that what the reward is something the saboteur desires.
  • Include them on a team but don’t count their points.
  • Ask the student to pair the student with an encouraging and willing classmate.
  • Have these students be on their own team, a team of one.
  • Have the student sit out the game period.
    • Explain how you understand that they may have a hard time playing the game and they can just "sit this one out".
