Why Should I Use a Pathway Chart?

Teams often meet to address challenging behavior and start discussing interventions prior to a full analysis of why the problem is occurring in the first place; or, a consultant will observe and provide recommendations, without gaining buy-in from those who will be implementing the behavior plan.

This can result in behavior plans lacking clarity and breadth of analysis. When the seven steps are followed, the chart provides a sequential problem-solving format for the team, is time efficient and summarizes findings from the FBA.
