Regional and District Efforts

When a region and/or district initiates positive change efforts, sites are enabled to evaluate those techniques that facilitate positive practices, and those that do not. Throughout California and the nation, Positive Behavioral Support Initiatives are in evidence. For information on efforts throughout the nation, contact www.nasdse.org and www.pbis.org. All statewide, district and school efforts have attempted to address the three tiers of student need from universal interventions at a school site, to selected interventions for students with repeated difficulties, to students with intensive needs for individual support plans.

To determine the extent to which your district or region has positive behavioral supports and interventions in place, assessment tools are available for your use:

Throughout California district and regional teams have been trained in implementation of positive behavioral supports. For information on some implementing regions and districts using the BEST model by PENT Collaborator, contact Dr. Jeffrey Sprague, or visit www.calstat.org. For information on the EBS model, contact PENT Collaborator, Dr. George Sugai.
