Dr. G. Roy Mayer has been a teacher, counselor, and school psychologist. He has been recognized professionally and publicly in the L.A. Times, Who's Who in the World, Parade Magazine, and several radio programs. He is recipient of the Outstanding Professor Award (1987-88), and the Outstanding Contributor to Behavior Analysis Award (1998). He was among the first to become a Nationally Board Certified Behavior Analyst (1999). He was President of the California Association for Behavior Analysis (1999-2000), chaired the 2003 CalABA Conference, and served on the study group for the U.S. Division of Violence Prevention, National Center for Disease control (1998-present). He has published a numerous books, chapters and articles, primarily in the areas of Applied Behavior Analysis and School Violence Prevention. One of his books is recommended reading in preparing for Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (Behavior Analysis for Lasting Change), another (Classroom Management: A California Resource Guide) was mailed to every school, SELPA, and County Education Office in California. Another book, Teaching Alternative Behaviors Schoolwide: A Resource Guide To Prevent Discipline Problems, has been mailed to every district in California. Currently he is a Professor at the Charter College of Education at California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA), consults with various districts and the LACOE on violence prevention and functional assessments, and provides workshops on schoolwide discipline and behavior management issues.
